Fire breaks out aboard Royal Navy ship as she is docked in Plymouth
A FIRE broke out in the engine compartment of a warship.
The blaze took hold of HMS Dauntless when it was docked at Plymouth Naval Base on Saturday at 12.45pm.
Three fire engines and an aerial platform arrived at the type 45 destroyer to assist two teams of Royal Navy firefighters who were already tackling the blaze.
The navy's crew extinguished the blaze with the city fire fighters called as a precaution, to step in if the incident escalated. A small amount of fire damage was caused to the compartment. Dauntless crew members were evacuated and no one was injured.
